Week 10

I thought it was cool how technology can be used for lots of different topics. Since going into the classroom, I thought it would be hard to implement technology with such young kids but these videos made it seem a bit clearer with how to do so. Little kids love using technology to learn. You can throw in little bits of technology here and there and the kids love it. I learned that it is important for the kids to work in groups when using technology and to allow them to explore with it and let them figure things out by themselves. Kids are very technology savvy so organizing learning in conjunction with technology kids will have greater motivation and interest in learning. I like the idea of using technology to communicate with other schools about topics they are using. These videos made me more aware of the fact that technology doesn’t have to be a big deal. You can add it in here or there to enhance things and that is all it takes.

Technology at Riverview

I did all the parts for the week 9 assignment. It was interesting to see all the access to technology we have at my school. In my classroom we have a projector, computer, CD and Tape player, TV, and VCR. There is a lot of other technology that is available throughout the school such as a multi-verse projector and a digital camera. Riverview has two computer labs which I think is awesome. They use a lot of educational computer programs to help the kids that are struggling. I think it is great that so many resources are available if we take the time to look into them and use them.
